Extractions

Our Tooth Extraction Services in Burlington

A tooth extraction may be performed for a variety of reasons: wisdom teeth, teeth that have a poor prognosis, or relieving intense tooth pain. Extractions may be performed as part of an effort to repair a root or prepare implants and dentures. Wisdom teeth extraction is another common procedure.

In earlier times, tooth extractions were quite popular, but today, your dentist should only perform an extraction if it is absolutely necessary. At Cornerstone Dental, we strive to provide our patients in Burlington with tooth extraction services that are as comfortable as possible. We will do our best to reduce the stress of the experience. Get in touch with us today if you’re interested in tooth extractions at our Burlington clinic.

Extractions: What to Expect

We want to ensure that you are well informed prior to your procedure being performed. Post-operative instructions are given to each patient prior to their appointment and reviewed after their appointment.

Our team of dentists is well trained to handle a large majority of our patients’ surgical needs. For the apprehensive patient, we offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to assist our patients during their appointment.

You may be prescribed painkillers or you may take over-the-counter painkillers after the procedure. Remember to change your blood-soaked gauze pads regularly and, after the first 24 hours, you should rinse your mouth out with salt water a few times a day. This will reduce swelling and pain. Expect several days of recovery time. During this period, eat soft foods like mashed potatoes, ice cream, and broth. Avoid physical activity that increases your heart rate because this can increase bleeding.

As with all surgical procedures, tooth extractions come with risks. Patients seeking a tooth extraction procedure in Burlington with Cornerstone Dental should have a thorough discussion with us on your situation and health history. Contact us today for more information.
